Step 1: Capture the data
An event is recorded using a video recorder or a camera and PC and either saved in analog form (on the video recorder) or in digital form (on hard disk). (A digital video can be recorded in MPEG format to save space on the hard disk. This means that a large video database can be built up.)
The user can examine and analyze the video image directly on the computer monitor. In the digital version an analyzed action is always connected to the corresponding scene in the video image. In this way all database entries can be retrieved by the click of a mouse and at the same time the user is presented with the corresponding video image.
By the way: you can work with up to ten video views with Simi Scout in order to gain an as detailed as possible overview of an observation area, e.g. a playing field. In this way it is possible to achieve more accurate analysis results!
Step 2: Define attributes
Assessment criteria (attributes), according to which actions in the video are to be evaluated, can be freely defined. Actions are captured by mouse-clicks or keyboard shortcuts.
Step 3: Store in database
Captured actions are stored in the Simi Scout database and linked to the specified attributes. It is also possible to store several recordings in one database and then to perform direct comparisons between different people, different observation areas or different situations.
