Data analysis and reports

The module “Data analysis and reports” provides tools for detailed analysis, display and reporting. It is usually combined with the 2D or 3D motion analysis (kinematics) module or with a module for analog data acquisition (EMG, force plate).

Calculations

A wide variety of functions are available for performing calculations: arithmetic functions, angle and distance measurement, filtering, FFT, derivation, integration, normalization, frequency analysis etc.

Calculation templates

Intermediary steps and results can be saved as templates and re-used for other sets of data.

Report templates

Results are output in formatted reports, which can be printed out or saved as HTML files. Customized calculations and formula can be saved and re-used in other projects. This feature is available for measuring angles and distances as well as for more sophisticated operations such as filtering, FFT analyses, arithmetic and trigonometric formula. Variables, such as body weight, can be automatically incorporated. This function is of particular benefit to customers with a large number of tests to perform or to those who work in clinics.

Simi Phaser

Complicated movements can be split into phases for further analysis. This function is particularly suitable for cyclic movements (running, swimming, cycling).

These phases can then be statistically evaluated or superimposed over each other in order, for example, to assess the variability of the movement or determine an “average” movement.

Automatic methods of identifying the phase boundaries are available for certain types of data (EMG, ground reaction forces etc.). The results of these methods can be checked manually or alternatively the phases can be manually identified.

Reports

Automatic reports containing both written and graphic elements can be used to produce clearly formatted printed information quickly without any further intervention. Reports can be printed out or saved as HTML files or placed in an online archive.

Automatic reports, especially in combination with calculation templates, can save a large amount of repetitive and therefore unnecessary analysis time.

Extended video functions

Reports containing numbers and images can be saved as HTML files and passed on to any other person (e.g. patient) who owns a computer but who does not have any special motion analysis software.

The same principle is now available for video clips. Simi Motion enables individual video clips to be compiled from stick figure animations, 3D virtual reality views or other images.

These clips can either be combined into one single clip (video split) or superimposed over each other to produce stunning effects for presentation and documentation purposes.
